New World - Xmas SOS

The vending machine we hope you wouldn’t need.

Every year at least 8 out 10 people forget something for the Christmas Day spread and a pavlova is pretty hard to make without cream or strawberries. New Zealand has strict trading laws, meaning supermarkets can’t be open on December 25th, but we found a way to help out our most forgetful customers without breaking the law.

Analysing previous Christmas Eve shopping data, we calculated the top 17 most forgotten items and made them available in the Xmas SOS Vending Machine. Over 200 emergency purchases were made on the big day and each one was a donation to local City Missions.
